Clinical Program Financial Support

In the past, we have supported all clinical students for 4 years through teaching, research, or clinical assistantships; we expect that we will be able to continue to provide such support. Most first year students are placed on research assistantships in the department. These assistantships currently provide stipends equivalent to $10,000 for 12 months without a Master's degree, and $11,000 for 12 months with a Master's degree, and require 20 hours of work per week. Departmental assistantships exempt students from out-of-state tuition.

Funding during years two and three is fully integrated with scientist/practitioner training. Clinical students are required to take a one-year clinical practicum in an external agency and a one-year departmental research assistantship. The sequence during these two years is determined on an individual basis.

Funding during year four is available at the students' option. The type of funding during year four may be in either area depending upon a) personal preference, b) educational need, and c) funding sources available.
