August 4th, 2004 Test tomorrow... (That'd be the 5th if you're counting) Doug caved and bought the clunky shoes... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personality... and social psychology. - Doug terms "Psychology of the obvious" Points on Personalities. - Personalities are often tailored to the individual - They are very enduring. In an event five years from now and ten years ago would have basically the same personal reaction due to personality. This type of personality needs to exist for over sixth months. to be termed a personality (due to changing events in a person's life) What drives personality is clearly the interaction between nature and nurture. - There is (in Doog's opinion) a predisposition for certain behavior genetically. Ex: Children growing up in home with other children. First born - has rigid dealings with them due to first time parents Middle Child - very compliant does well on their own. Youngest - Tends to be a little more spoiled. All of the personality traits in a person interact towards the personality. Two of the big traits... Introverted - Tends to themselves a bit more Extroverted - Is very social Stable - Reliable Unstable - Acts on whimsy; impulsive MMPI Minnesota Multi Phasing Inventory. Validity - Face Validity - does it measure what it says its measuring. - Predictive Validity - does it predict what its trying to. MMPI has predictive validity. Doug didn't have much on this subject. Doug starts laughing about eating glue. P 522.
