My research interests involve a number of distinct lines, all of which could be generally classified as social cognition, and many could be described as judgment and choice. Specifically, I have interests in political psychology (e.g., Houston, Doan, & Roskos-Ewoldsen, 1999; Houston, 1997; Budesheim, Houston, & DePaola, 1996), justice (e.g., Lupfer, Doan, & Houston, 1998), decision making (e.g., Houston, & Doan, 1996; Houston & Sherman, 1995), and prejudice and discrimination (e.g., Gingrich, Houston, & Lupfer, 1998).My teaching interests involve social psychology, social cognition, and the history and philosophy of psychology, having taught courses on all these topics at both the undergraduate and graduate level. I have also taught courses, at both the graduate and undergraduate level, in political psychology and judgment and decision making, as well as a graduate seminar in the impact of 20th century physics (e.g., the holistic implications of chaos and complexity, and quantum nonlocality) on concepts in the philosophy of science.
